What does a free intro call with a personal trainer actually involve?
What actually happens on a free intro call with a personal trainer in Malta: a relaxed 20-minute goals chat, your questions answered, no pressure to join.
A free intro call with a personal trainer in Malta is a relaxed 20-minute chat, usually by phone or WhatsApp, where you talk through your goals, ask questions and see whether you click with the coach. There is no workout, no pressure and no obligation to sign up.
The short answer: a 20-minute, no-pressure chat
Booking a call with a personal trainer sounds like a commitment, so plenty of people in Malta put it off for months. In reality it is the low-stakes part. A free intro call is a short, friendly conversation, not a sales pitch and not a trial workout.
At My Personal Trainer Malta it runs about 20 minutes, by phone or WhatsApp at a time that suits you. You explain what you are trying to achieve, we tell you honestly whether and how we can help, and you leave knowing your options. Nobody is going to ask you to commit on the spot. If it is not the right fit, we will say so.
What happens on the call, step by step
The point of the call is to understand you before anyone talks about training. Here is roughly how the 20 minutes go.
- Your goal, in your words. Fat loss, getting stronger, moving without pain, feeling confident on holiday — we start with what actually matters to you, not a generic template.
- Your starting point. A few easy questions about your training history, your weekly schedule, any injuries or health conditions, and what has and hasn’t worked before.
- How we would approach it. A plain-English outline of what coaching with us would look like for someone in your position — including our semi-private personal training at Tal-Qroqq in Gżira, where you train in a small group but follow your own programme.
- Your questions. Cost, scheduling, what to expect in the first few weeks — ask anything. That is what the call is for.
What you can ask us (nothing is off the table)
This is your chance to interview the coach, not the other way round. The people who get the most out of a free intro call come with a couple of honest questions ready.
Good ones to ask: how much does it cost and what is included; how many sessions a week you would realistically need; whether one-to-one or semi-private suits you better; how we track progress; and what happens if you travel or get sick. If money is the thing holding you back, ask directly — our guide to what a personal trainer costs in Malta covers the numbers, and we are happy to talk them through on the call.
What happens after the call
There is no hard close at the end. You will have a clear picture of what training with us involves and what it would cost, and you decide in your own time.
If you would like to go ahead, we book your first session and build a programme around your real week. If you want to think about it, that is completely fine — there is no follow-up pressure and no automatic sign-up. And if we honestly think another approach or another coach would serve you better, we will point you there. The call is useful either way.
Why it is genuinely free (and why there's no catch)
People are rightly wary of anything labelled free. The reason a free intro call costs you nothing is simple: coaching only works when the fit is right, so it is in everyone’s interest to check that first.
Twenty minutes tells us whether we can actually help you, and tells you whether you trust the person you would be training with. That is worth far more than a hard sell. You are not signing anything, not handing over card details, and not committing to a package by taking the call — you are just having a conversation. Our founder Marvic went from 145 kg to personal trainer, so the coaching here comes from someone who has been on the other side of that first nervous step.
Common questions about the free intro call
How long does the free intro call take?
About 20 minutes. It is a focused conversation, not a lengthy assessment, and we keep to the time so it fits into a normal day. If you need longer, we can arrange it, but 20 minutes is usually enough to work out whether we are a good fit.
Is the intro call really free, with no obligation?
Yes. The call is free, and taking it does not commit you to anything — no payment, no card details, no automatic sign-up. If you decide it is not for you, that is a perfectly good outcome and there is no follow-up pressure.
Do I need to be fit or have trained before?
Not at all. Complete beginners are exactly who these calls are for. There is no workout on the call and nothing to prepare — just come as you are and tell us honestly where you are starting from.
